🌧️ Hurricane Harvy 🌧️
Hurricane Harvey began as a tropical wave off the African coast on Sunday, August 13, moving west across the Atlantic, becoming a tropical storm on August 17 and moving into the Caribbean Sea, where Harvey became disorganized.
Harvey was then downgraded to a tropical wave that entered the Gulf of Mexico on the 22nd. On the morning of the 23rd, Harvey was elevated back to a tropical depression as the Bay of Campeche and western Gulf of Mexico had very warm waters.
Rainbands on the east side of the Harvey circulation moved into southeastern Texas on the morning of the 25th and continued through much of the night and into the 26th. A heavy rainband developed over Fort Lauderdale counties. Bend and Brazoria during the evening hours of the 26th and spread into Harris County and slowed as it trained south to north.
This resulted in a rapid development of flash floods between 10:00 p.m. m. and 1:00 a.m. m. as huge indices of rainfall occurred across much of Harris County.
The morning of the 27th saw additional rain bands that continued to develop and produced additional excessive amounts of rain.
